"Do you know" she asked,
"that the stars make sounds?"

"Yes, I do." I answered her.

Then she looked at me with
this wide-eyed innocence.

"I wonder ~ if we tried real hard
could we hear them, and if we did
hear them ~ would they be laughing
or crying?" she said.

"That ~ my sweet child ~ is
something we may never know." I said.

"Would you like to try?" she whispered.

Smiling, I said "Yes, I think I would."

And we listened.
