A Vegan's Sympathies by Amanda BullingtonThere you go again,
eating embryonic fluids
from a baby, with your
filthy cigarettes and wine.
And you think its fine, so
long as you're not the weak
one, having hormonal rages
over your missing daily fixes
and highs. You won't even
regret when that baby
isn't the prodigal child
you both hope for;
when your husband
shrugs away his life
for the sake of your
shrugged off child's.
and you'll never,
never, stop getting
high. 05/29/2005 Author's Note: The title is named for the fact that millions of people destroy eggs (the whites are chicken embryos) similarly every day. Started as a tribute to non-meat eaters...turned into this.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 05/30/05 at 01:01 PM Wow, Amanda...I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian...although I don't eat many eggs. I haven't had a drink in over 25 years and a cigarette in over 18 years...some of us progress slowly... ;-)
