The Divine Revelation by Kenneth LauIn a sudden surge
The skeletons pour into
The gardens.
And as if a stereo had been
Suddenly turned on
The roar of the famished souls
Permeated through this new atmosphere.
And color.
No grand whites and golds
No luscious greens and blues
But angry red fire
And melted purple flesh
Paradise it seemed was
As Godless as the rest of us,
Remnants of white robes
Soiled
Caked in the putrid browns
Of blood and envy.
There we stood.
All of God's forsaken creatures
Suddenly aware that we had
Been saved from our own righteous nature.
So we buried the burned
And cared for the land
And after a few years,
Planted a crop.
After a few more
We had color in our faces
Life in our bones
And little bundles of hope
Frolicking through the ruins of God's people.
And always, as we taught them,
Questioning. 05/19/2005 Author's Note: This is supposed to be the end of three poems...so I'm not really sure I'm all that happy with the ending exactly...lemme know what you think
