by Charlie Morgan

if i had the modem and the wherewithall
i'd find a way to post most all
my poems in a way
and not have to display
my poetics so stale, so staid
with only the type-face being laid
on flatness and whiteness
left dull; no brightness
except when the 'ah hah!'
turns to 'ahhhh.'

languishing in typefontfaceville,
all the time i'm trying still
to be someone, creative and bright
who upon first curtain's light
would take the show and how!
all the others need not even bow
for it is to me and myself alone
that others would feign and moan
'to be like him'd be such a treat'
but in the end it's him i need to beat
at writing and penning all his ken
would be quite a treat, an impossible win.
