The Misadventures of Howard J. Witsend #1 Â He, Himself by Jeffrey ParrenShall we meet him?
Mr. Howard J. Witsend, mid twenties,
Lives alone with his father.
A new breed of intelligent
Non-go-getter, Howard dreams
Of better, yet sleeps it off.
He finds fancy in sporty things,
Carefully planned out whims carry
Him from paycheck to paycheck,
Forethought is an afterthought.
He bounces off of the world
With much dismay, yet change things?
No way. Complaining and posturing as if
He was Auguste Rodins, The Thinker,
He chooses complete motionlessness over
Man of Action or company executive.
Deep intellectual thought and sorting
Have fully paralyzed a witty being,
Full of witty sayings that really do
Prove nothing. Voltaire would be proud.
When the biggest thing that gets in his
Way is he, himself, Howard J. Witsend
Finds the world a scary place.

'forethought is an afterthought' and 'he bounces off the world'
