Serenity.

by Madeline Pestolesi

A moment frozen:
An elaborate freeze frame by an expensive special effects department,
Dwelling in the most eastern corner of my imagination.
Out of body, I see myself.
Standing on the jutted rocks of a mountain,
Over the ocean.
Fractals of smoke from summer forest fires
Intermingle with the cumulous clouds.
And the breeze rolls the trees in their friendly conversation,
Their timelessness radiating wisdom.

Peace washes over the confused, crowded thoughts
Serenity frozen in time.
