Chaparral

by Maryellen Lebeda-Parra

i will slowly move into your mind
like my child. haplessly and helplessly,
tending to your care and making you my own.

worn out years rust and photos faded, your past
life drawn squiggles in the concrete.
names and hearts of children, not my own,
though i now own.

and i will sacrifice for you. envisioning myself
behind broken windows in a brokedown box,
the brokedown palace of my once active mind.

Loosing it kinda fits with the theme. Images fade, but the intensity behind the image is etched in a stone heart. Beautiful.
