Transition Flight

by Alison McKenzie

I’ve landed on my feet again,
And not on a nail -
Thank God.
The winds of change keep
Picking me up,
Carrying me to greener pastures
Laden with dung and mud.
It’s alright -
I’ve given permission;
Intentions always steering
But the pilot’s training
Coming in handy now.
I don’t have to set foot
In another desert.
I prefer the cool mountain air
And this is where I glide
Until I land on my feet again.
