Someday I will quit writing poetry about you (collaboration)

by Bradd Howard

I was curled up in the bottom of the shower until the water ran cold and my blood ran hot.
Remembering your words-
it wasn't exactly your words, but your tone, your inflection
the way you pushed my hair behind my ear when you said it.
The way your dimple refused to wink at me
and your eyes that always twinkled when you saw me
Barely gave off a dull glint.
Someday I will quit writing poetry about you.
I don't know when.
Maybe when my blood runs cold
and you aren't the only thing I see when I close my eyes
... you see you were the most beautiful thing I ever held.
And now I hold you in memory only.
But maybe one day they'll quit making paper
maybe I'll discard all my pens
i bet my love lines will still have their place in my heads
one day i'll stop whispering your sweet nothings to myself
i'd know you'd smile if you heard them
and if you'll smile, i won't stop

Fab collaboration - kudos to both of you. I like the way your two voices combined to create one that whispers the pain of loss.
