Dirty Deeds Done--Dirt Cheap

by Charlie Morgan

name it and claim it, pipe it or dream it.
you, too, can be known for your
slight of hand, tricks of the trade,
and only the shadows know...

as

human dust particles, we're adrift
in the sea-air of sunlight
shining, glistening as they
each echo, echo, echo each other...

along with each dirty deed
comes the uppance, giver or taker
and only one to a customer,
and that's why we play...

my first dirty deed--done cheap
will be to ignore the trestle
covering my cornea as i squint
to see your miniscule flaw...

after that, i'll just pontificate
all what i think's important
and shun any unlike-wise thinkers
and that'll be that...

any and all naysayers will be ignored
(as it should be!) and dealt with
by divesting them of any
self-worth and integrity...

awaiting a cat o' nine tails' flogging,
the worst dirty deed yet to come
is when the lasher,
palms his whip and walks away.

ignoring your needs
that you use for measure
of life's value
by how many times
we can be tricked,
fooled,[by lovers or haters]
left to lanquish,
interpositioned,
nullified...
ignored.

the loneliest number is not one
but two.
two people in the process
of ignoring each other's needs.

dirty deeds are born in humanity
and borne on the wind,
blowing past our hearts
sounding like an empty gourd.

the stanza, "after that, i'll just pontificate, ill what i think's important, and shun any unlike-wise thinkers, and that'll be that...," really struck me, because not so much now, but in my collegiate days I was very much that person in that stanza, hopelessly trying to find the person who would just listen without speaking (which is impossible), and in turn found a very strong-willed person and mind and our group shunned her for a silly comment and for being strong, the very reason for my unsettled feeling about the group as a whole...vague to you yes, but that stanza made me completely relive that series of events...if only I could go back...great write cHaZ ~JPP
