I am the Black Rose

by Ava Blu

I tried to pretend I am not what I am
as Lucifer whispered on my lips

His breath paralyzed;
my ability to stop was gone

I have swallowed every boy I was ever near
digesting love mixed with tears
assessing the damage against myself

I remain whole

My will is gone
I can no longer fight

His tongue is inside my soul
like a dagger, it strikes at my wounds
the layer He penetrates is already torn

My eyes roll backwards
I know Evil is taking over

My heart has crumpled
like petals from a dying rose
beaten black and wrinkled
I fold.

flow of the last stanza; nice. a little plathish in the first line of the third stanza. a bit more jeannaish the rest of the way. pretty well done overall. i like black rose in the title.
