The Sin

by Mark Maxey

Forgetting the past
As if it is a page ripped from the books
Torn from the view
And hid deep within
You don’t ever mention it
For I would cringe if you did

A skeleton in a closet
Will rot with the lies I’ve told
Worn as a suit I’ve never sewn
With thread an needles it doesn’t exist
But hidden away in a glass view window

A suit meant for no one
But kept in case I had to change
And when it did
I found it did not cling to me so well
But kept for I thought it would

The sin of the past
Can never catch up to the present
But in my mind
It’s a race that never ends

Mark, I like this sooooo much. The last stanza is especially powerful. Don't we all feel like this at some point in our lives? One small crit - S2, L4 - an = and? Good work! (as usual) ;-)
