jonesin' by Charlie Morgan
like a methadone-drinking, derelict user
a druggie, homeless, society-rules abuser
i stand alone, and although not stoned
and i wonder like he, do i belong?
to a world in turmoil, melting pot brimming
with the lives and loves since the beginning
and our eyes looking for something we can't name
something to applaud, something to blame.
we smile a laconic smile, too human to do else;
and further engage in the walking-death stealth
of our meaning for life, itself hidden
from view only, yet, still it's given
to us for use in a uniquely-yours way
establishing our life in measured days
so all that's ours is His too,
and it's with each day we are renewed.
so i s'spose you could say
i'm jonesin' for the day
when i meet him face to face
and get a Jesus fix and at His place.
