Despair

by Richard Vince

Watch the shadows move…
The faces in the glass…
And tell me you don’t see despair

Try to tell me the truth…
But I know you can’t
You can’t know
You can’t see it
And I am alone again

Alone in believing my truth
Speaking what I really see
Even though the darkness is blinding
And we are outside of the day
The day that once held us
And took us under its wing

Now the wings have been clipped
And the day cannot fly
We are tied to the Earth…
As we always have been

So, tell me you don’t see the despair
Because it lives inside of you.
