ad hominem by Charlie Morgan
waking each morn since we started counting rainbows,
we wrap ourselves in needed warmth for the day,
snuggling safely in our ego's nest of Me.
making certain that our boundaries of self
are fully seen and properly respected for
our moat of defensive-ness keeps others at bay.
hiding our uncertainties under a blanket of saran wrap,
we seize each new day with the avarice of Buddha
who's belly protudes from so many ingested souls.
adrift on the sea of Life, we waft, we wane; always
teetering on the ragged coat-tails of Hope,
looking for today's sanity to be Heaven-sent.
and with zest and zeal, looking for our needs
of fulfillment we search with a flashlight
that has no batteries.
