goth in pink

by Kimberly Bare

Myriad shades of black
from the tip
of my lined eyes
to the toe of
these Harley boots.

Prevailing darkness
outwardly broken
only by the lightness
of the silver-chained
crystal which drapes
around my throat.

Yet, hiding beneath it all
my toenails are painted
baby girl pink...
because he loves me
just as I am.
