Rich

by Alison McKenzie

I am rich in love,
Account of a life overflowing,
Growing daily in compounded interest.
It isn’t a simple matter -
Broken heart worth more mended
Than the original;
The natural aging of years -
Dings and nicks, scars of anguish,
But rich in love!
Meticulous stain
Of dark and cherish,
Rubbed over and over
To a glossy sheen.

Opulently loved,
I am laughter ringing beyond all tears,
Precious in weeping,
Liquid diamond light shimmering,
Angelic elegy of dissonants and harmonics,
Polyphony of living,
I lift my chin to sing,
And watch my garden growing, growing -
Love-rich soil cultivating my dreams.

It is my intention.
It is my inheritance.
It is my gift to share.
It is my life, now.
