A Sculpture Divine by David R Spellman
carving away,
unscrupulously digging
at the cold, hardened mass
with purposeful intent
and tasteful design;
random precision
lopping a chunk here
scraping another piece there –
pausing just long enough
to savor the in-betweens
so well built upon all
the destruction you reap;
until finally diminished
to marbleized scraps,
melted memories lay
at the bottom of the well,
styrofoam chasms which
your scouring spoon
searches for every last
remnant of fudge
