~My Blue Leather Face~

by Nikki Benson

You know you
Without gratitude bestowed
Rest yourself
Relax
I’ve accepted heavier
You’d never think to polish me
Even just a little so I wouldn’t dry up and crack
But you’ll take what comfort I can give
Take and don’t return
You’ll know my embrace
I’ll fit you
I’ll be smothered as you relax
But you’ll compliment my color
Enjoy till I break

Nikki, you write some insightful poetry. This one speaks of so much pain and longing - to be wanted, accepted, yet giving and sacrificing for what is desired. I'll look at more of your work, in the next few days and see if I can recommend one for POTD.
