Fisherman

by Jennifer L Banks

A lonely women alone in a rambling cold home
Gets her heart caught up in a fisherman’s line
He was experienced at this, he said all the right things
His hands and timber reeling her in with benign
But she’d been here before, getting caught in a net
and she finally swam away with one tearful regret.
A little sad after too many tears and promises broken
She can only muse at his words never again spoken
She swam away into deeper seas, out of the murky brine
not daring to look back at all
….and leave the fisherman to check his other lines

I love the multiple meanings of the word 'line' in this piece. Great flow and exquisite content. :)
