Once I read a book on poetry,
shortly after that I quit writing.

There were too many rules
and the chapter about heart was omitted.

Funny, but I couldn’t laugh then;
my ego was too stifling.

I did lament my short life
as Poet Laureate-looming.

Now I laugh with friends whenever
I think of that long-ago time…yesterday.
