The Ghost on the Screen

by Jennifer L Banks

My memory failed me tonight
As I saw a stranger looking back at me.
My once beloved Celtic knight
Part samurai, part bel esprit

I cried about the recent past
And for what will never be
I was wrong thinking this would last
As I sipped my warm green tea.

The ghost on the screen, eyes azure marine
This stranger now tainted and pale
Leaves me bittersweet like some tangerine
As he tells someone else a fairy tale.

There is so much pain and sorrow in this verse. It really feels as though your heart was broken and the blood was used to pen the verse. Wow. Great read.
