Shay ~Shay

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

You are so beautiful.

I love the way your blonde hair sticks to your face and your chubby cheeks

are pressed up against the pillow as you lay soundly asleep. Your chest rises

up and down and you let out little grunts from your nose.  Your legs sprawled half

over and half under your blanket and your finger never far from your nose in case

of an emergency picking.

It makes me forget that hours earlier you were screaming at me and told me I

was the meanest mom you ever had and slammed the door.  But after the storm you

always crawl onto my lap and give me the biggest hug and I can feel your

wet tears on my shoulder.  You tell me your sorry and that I am beautiful and I hold you

and appreciate the moment  and wonder what it will feel like when you are a teen and

you won't be so quick to apologize.  My precious girl no matter what you say or do you will always

remain.

Beautiful to me.

Maternal love shines through glowingly in this tender poem.
