hollow children by Melinda Sordinothe evil lives inside of that shell
stripping his victims of a voice
just as he strips their clothes.
he strips us of a soul and then
hollowed out we walk among you
with a false sense of security.
we know we are hollow children.
we can feel the razor edges slice-
but how can you explain all this
to someone who is whole?
it's like telling the children of Somalia
how Thanksgiving dinner tastes.
with no comparison left i say
we fake it. yes, our whole lives.
living in the dark within ourselves;
and if eyes are windows to the soul
then why aren't mine too dim to look in? 04/26/2005 Posted on 04/26/2005 Copyright © 2024 Melinda Sordino
