Caterpillar

by Barbara Griffith

I found a caterpillar
on my shoelace this morning,
when I went to leave for school.

All day I figured,
"Hey, that's pretty damn poetic.
Maybe I should write about it"

But then I remembered how I
flicked it off, and it
fell down onto the cement.

Awww...a poetic moment flung thoughtlessly until the thought permeated and then it was too late. I did find this more sad than funny though it certainly does 'sweep the rug from beneath itself' hahaha ....well, never will he become what is in his potential to become, though we as humans still have the chance...I hope haha I did enjoy this, very unique and thought provoking in a subtle kind of way :-)

shows how every moment of experience is fodder for writers and you recognized it fast as that for you. And the turn at the end really hits us, well done.
