Like tales of Bluebeard

by Jennifer L Banks

The skeletons in the closet
Just shadows on the wall
Never dared to ask them
to dance with me in the hall.

Just shadowed forms around me
Never whispered their full tales
Puzzle pieces alas missing
Communication sadly derails.

I never asked them to tea
I believed in intuition
Trust dealt me the ace of spades
Into your hand, like a bloody key admission

Somewhere in the dark tower
The skeletons hide deep
Wooing their passionate lovers
Into haunted paradoxical sleep.

Like the story of bluebeard
A foolish mistake was made
To ask the devil questions
An Ace high queen was played.
