Oh Daddy!

by Charlie Morgan

oh Daddy, won't you take me back to old Titus County.
down by the blue lakes and east Texas hills.
where the fields are lush and grasses so green,
and the Pines and Oak trees are the tallest i've seen.

and the air just bursting with what tomorrow would bring.

can you take me back again thru the years of my wonder?
let me run in the creeks, skip rocks and just ponder
about all the times i thought forever would last,
when each morn' i's awakened by the Sun's beaming cast.

oh Daddy, let's go, hurry, not waste a breath.
wake Mama, wake Frank, i'll wake the rest.
i'll be waitin' by the car, y'all follow.
be there in no time, watch the moon turn to yellow.

as it's chased by the Sun, like a baby it'll holler.

so Daddy are you coming? i'm waitin' on you,
to start-up the car and drive us to
the land of my youth that i've been forsaking
for my life in the city, a career i've been making.
