"Until Dawn"

by Max Phineas

You told me it was alright to cry
I gazed at you and asked you why
You told me because I'd feel better after
And then we could drown ourselves in laughter

You played me a song when I started to weep
And to the sound of your guitar strings, I fell asleep
I woke up smiling with my head on your shoulder
Then you wrapped me in your arms when I mentioned it was colder

In whispering breezes, we skipped along
Around the pond, to the bluebird's song
And collapsed on the grass in the shade of a tree
Til the park had emptied entirely

And here we sit on the bristly lawn
We can watch the sky until the golden dawn
And remain here "happily ever after"
Sitting together, drowning in laughter.
