Message in a Bottle

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

Let's leave a legacy
line black on white
some speak sorrow
or describe delight

Write it out
a note of your soul
place it in a bottle
for the world to behold

Toss it in an ocean
vast humanity
Do you care who picks it up?
As long as someone will read

Revive a life written out
in joy and sorrow too
feel the pain
or love scribed there
emotions felt anew

Message in a bottle
for all the world to see
the only way
a short lived soul
can taste
Immortality

...maria, lovely syntax...really catches you in 'well???, what you gonna do??, and the last stanza after the other stanzas 'telling us what to do' it's sorta just one more nudge-nudge of our soul's worth[sic]in time...short-lived conceptually scary, eh? heavy thought, i think that's what we're dion' eh? sorta metaphorically writing our 'messages' in a bottle...much strength in thought, maria...peace, chaz

what a powerful poem...it almost gives meaning above and beyond the simple or complex meaning of all our poetry...we are all immortals here as our poetry will long outlast us! great flow! ~JPP
