Just Friends?

by Jersey D Gibson

When we met,
you swore we'd be just friends.
Never wanted more,
than coffee and money to lend.

Times have changed,
or was it all in our head?
So why did I,
wake up next to you in your bed?

Nothing good can come of this,
pretending like nothing's going on.
Nothing simple can come of this,
is what we did so wrong?

Now we're alone,
thinking back to that night.
I've been drinking,
and you think how it wasn't right.

We see each other,
you just look the other way.
Why are you so mad,
because friends we can't stay?

Nothing good has come of this,
becuase you want to stay just friends.
I want more, and so do you,
and we get together and make amends?
