From Coyote Peak

by Ronald A Pavellas

Yes, the Earth abides
This bench, this peak, this valley
Are here for me, still

Heavy winter rains
Now yield thick grasses, thistles
I welcome these friends

Oh, my dear green hills
How deeply you nourish me
As I sit, entranced

Author's Note: Coyote Peak in the Santa Teresa Hills of southern San Jose, California -- looking West toward the Santa Cruz Mountains.

If you feel tired on your hikes, it's just that you've been carrying me all these years. Thanks for the loan of your vision, again. Good read.

Ron, I've never been to San Jose, but you make me want to visit this beautiful place you write about. Mountains are special to me too. I live in SoCal in sight of the San Gabriel Mountains.
