empty skies fill with rain

by Olivia Weinkein

watching the rain fall
you once promised me it
wouldn't be like this; empty
as i search for sound hear
only distance the ticking of
a clock another hour away
from me

and i still think she isn't very pretty

sending smoke signals too dark
a sky as though suicide could
drag you home again waiting
in the shadows dragged kicking
and screaming by wind that
whistles your name tells me
where you've been

and where you are right now

and where you are right now
is lightning striking thunder
shaking my world in two
seeing the both of you every
time the sky lights up goes
dark again goes dark again
goes dark again

goes dark again.
