little picture(the second)

by Peter Hsu

I have forgotten
the color of your breath.
It haunts me now;
1:12 AM and memory
conspire to compress me
into the shape of your hands.
Before sleep drips into my spine,
I will be staring at a picture
with your eyes in it,
fumbling with shades of green
that have been absent
from my days
since your lips went silent.

Author's Note: 1:12 AM is the minute of infinity.

Despite the absence of the shades of green the association seems so green.
