God makes a mother by Charlie Morgan
(HE thinks):
Mmmm, let me see, Ive made Adam, and hes okay
And Eve, too, from his rib cage.
What else is needed for my cosmos?
My recipes just misplaced, I know its not lost.
Ahh, there it is where I was working before.
Dark, Light; done that, ocean and seas, animals galore.
Made continents and the phenomena of the weather,
Just need some extra things to make this world better.
I know! Ill make a Mother and give humanity some leverage.
Shell be the panacea, an elixir, a potent beverage.
Providing nourishment from conception until month nine,
Then nurture her offspring until such time
The call will be for the most of whats best
That others cant give; others dont possess.
(HE thinks some more
shell need):
The softness of a cloud, playfulness of a puppy;
The swiftness of a gazelle, the innocence of a guppy.
The guile of a summer squall, warmth of a kittens tummy;
The stealth of a lion, the curiosity of a bunny.
The strength of a tornado, the comfort of downy eider,
The patience of a sloth, the tenacity of a spider.
The stature of Saturn, the humility of a lamb;
The cuteness of a koala, the stubbornness of a ram.
Arms long as my universe from points undiscovered,
With the composite love of Angels so she can cover
For me when Im busy in Heaven all day,
And sit in for me and watch her children play.
