mama's love

by Charlie Morgan

Smiling photographs filled the wall
even one of her in her garden.
You can see the sweat on her
forehead shining in the late-morning sun.

A stolen moment.

Wish I could steal another one
and have her here by me once more.
But that won’t be, ‘cause now she’s gone.
Words written in expressions.

A gift in a frame.

I see her often, but it takes its toll.
I have to close my eyes and squint real hard
and like a small single cloud filled with
summer rain in the heated desert
she appears, then is gone.

But at least for a moment I am drenched.

Chaz, I love this so much. It reminds me of how I feel for Mom, who died in Feb. Not a day goes by that I don't wish for one more day with her. So often she comes to me in my dreams and again I'm reassured. But sometimes the pain of her not being here is just so intense, you know, that ragged, shredded feeling deep inside?

Poignant, bittersweet. But she will always be in the memory. You can count on that!

This is a beautiful snapshot of your love for your Mama and a fresh reminder of just how blessed I am in this moment to be with my Mom. Thank you, Charlie. It's beautiful.

Just lost my mom 3 weeks ago. This is beautiful and even brought a tear or two. Love: "I see her often, but it takes its toll. I have to close my eyes and squint real hard and like a small single cloud filled with summer rain in the heated desert she appears, then is gone." Exactly how I feel. <3 Thank you.
