Death Gives Life
by Charlie Morgan Death Gives Life
Green sheets of flora whale-hum the tune of life,
as the fauna vibrate with break-neck speed.
In the being of each is an instinctive sundial,
each timed to its own beat.
Not gone are either: the old, used, the tired;
rather, only changed in composition of structure.
Matter persists, even in the Draconian death
of the living, thriving rain forest.
Decomposition, merely an arc in the pulsing life-ring,
as life springs forth from its alter ego.
ItÂ’s as it should be, no adjustment is needed
in the survival struggle for balance.
But, like cutter-ants on the forest floor
our human trail is lined with indictments.
