The Days

by Mark Maxey

The days pile up seemingly hard
And the work you begun never seems done
After the fall and rise of each day
It very well seems that your not one inch closer

Try it again for another day
This road you are on may be the one
Tho the twists and turns seem like mazes
That leads you further away
But in the end a final destination will be in sight

Ever fading is your patience
Anger is heard within each breath
You fight back the tears mixed with sweat
And it seems no one around even cares
Remember this my friend
We all carry our own load alone

Try it again for another day
This road you are on may be the one
Tho the twists and turns seem like mazes
That leads you further away
But in the end a final destination will be in sight

Just when it seems it may all be in vain
And your last friend has caught the train headed south
And no one near seems even the least bit concerned
Just remember…you got a friend in me
I can’t carry your weight nor choose your path
But I trust you will always know your way

Try it again for another day
This road you are on may be the one
Tho the twists and turns seem like mazes
That leads you further away
But in the end a final destination will be in sight

Just carry on for one more day
In your soul are the answers you seek
No on knows the way but you
But let me light the candle for your trek
Let me be the one to first open the door
For you to shine you’re ever loving truth

Try it again for another day
This road you are on may be the one
Tho the twists and turns seem like mazes
That leads you further away
But in the end a final destination will be in sight
