Weightless Belief by Ava Blu
"Admit, that a wise man can instruct fools."--Voltaire
Bumble-bee raindrops
Destroying the wind that blows
Lost in the labyrinth
Mankind's sentiments seem absurd
Burn the sound of a voice
Just to make a pertinent point
Your vanity could be profound
If you knew how to instruct
Flatter yourself
In such a condescending manner
Your exorbitant imagination
Is somehow lost
We attentively listen
Awaiting validation
Believing your principle is just
Your pain is a blatant scar
Upon our souls
This was never our journey
When I die,
I think I'll keep the extra weight
04/09/2005 Author's Note:
There have been studies
to show that everyone loses
the same amount of weight when they die.
It has been said that this could be the soul.

| Posted by Morgan D Hafele on 04/09/05 at 04:16 PM an interesting piece, especially when put into context with your note. the first stanza is awesome, and the rest of the poem followed suite. excellent work. |

| Posted by Paul Marino on 04/10/05 at 05:21 PM wow, amazing last line, which i didn't get the first time i read it. you think your soul is corrupt? well, you don't have to answer. i know you well enough to know what you think and how you feel. probably your best poem ever. sincerely, shawnelle |
| Posted by Laura Doom on 04/16/05 at 06:18 PM ...then I think I'll probably put on weight when I go :)
Wonderfully dry and detached. Subjective, but I found myself convinced by your commentary - and I drooled especially over 'your exorbitant imagination'
