Prison

by Tota Longmire

Half close my eyes
View the world through
Mascara laden bars
That simulate my mental prison
Watch those people outside
These self-imposed black stripes
Locked out of me
Just as I'm locked in myself.

Intriguing analogy. Introspection gone maudlin!
