i wrote a poem by Charlie Morgan
i wrote a poem and nobody came.
seemed they'd seen my name,
and thought they'd blame
me for a bad game.
in order to win
it's just a spin
of the bottle or pen
that will put you in.
the limelight's not for all,
some could write or scrawl
some inane words on the wall
and they'd win over all.
i s'pose i'll continue
and not be too blue
about not being used
to display who's who.
so, if i never become
as "chosen" as some,
still i'll gladly come
not knowing words, so i'll hum.

Posted by Jeffrey Parren on 04/04/05 at 08:32 PM I thought the first stanza was funny because I read your poem specifically because I saw your name! I really do like the rhymers you put together, and I am thinking in this one that most people write for themselves in the long run anyway, so getting known is low on the totem pole of wanting with regards to our own writing. I really liked this poem! ~JPP |
