Lullaby

by Barbara Griffith

Hush now, lover, while you're revered
Your face much sweeter than a mocking bird
Love isn’t measured by a wedding ring
Just the feelings I get when you sing

And if your song is too hard to hear,
I’ll lean on your shoulder to speak in your ear.
Say the words you know are true –
Don't need to say "I do."

Soon I’ll be in your arms again
Huggin’ and a kissin’ to our old refrain.
Miss you muchly and I miss you most,
(Not that I’m trying to boast.)

Hush now, lover, I’ll kiss you goodnight
Hold you and tuck you in nice and tight.
Today we loved and tomorrow will too
I love you more than I knew.
