Tomorrow (Simple, childlike, trauma-induced insecurities)

by Trisha De Gracia

Is it the wheel?
Was he right?
And will it start over again?
"We can't deny the chance"
"It might"
"It could."

And so
tomorrow
I wait for you
wait and I see if the sun does come out
when the play says it does
if your sunshine
your only sunshine smile
will puncture lives again
will rip through the careful weave
of our stretch denim love
of our cottonball romance.

Tomorrow
you sit on tomorrow
and smile with the toothy wide grin
on top of the dawn
with your legs full split
on the north polar ice cap
your arms reaching out for the curtains
to rise
for the encore
you wait without knowing-
or maybe you know
anticipate?
Want?
Could you want this again?
Could you want to revisit this?

Maybe
you'll wait
and befriend me
and then
you'll taint me
touch me
between my eyes and make me
hate him
use me
or maybe
you're over it.

Maybe.
But one things for sure:
tomorrow
'til august
the catalysts meet once again...

Author's Note: BUT! a catalyst is only a catalyst if there are reactants, things to react with, in the first place. Without that, a catalyst is simply a collection of atoms, just like an other molecule in existence.
