Waiting

by Brian Francis

The candle burns low in the night
Its flicker a sign of times passing
The murmurs and prayers of masses
Gathered in every corner of the world
Echo across the skies of heaven
Pleadings for peace to honor him
Tears for his passionate soul
They mourn what they are loosing

Candles burn like pyres around the saints
Taking loving words to God’s ear
The cherished man lies low and fades
As tears fall to honor him; a great flood
His life a memorial to love of man and God
His words, an inspiration to life
His mark, a blessing to all mankind
These moments - the heart rending pain of loss

Quite a touching and beautiful tribute to the man.
