old school

by Ulyss Rubey

fill my mind with the memories
of the days and years of the past-
in the rooms and nooks of the old school
and the photos and books of the class.

see all the lines of struggle and time
on the faces of the children we knew-
see how a school can forever rule
our thoughts and the things that we do.

put on a record of melodies
that have played in our hearts through the years-
and we'll never forget the pals that we met
and the girl that brought us to tears.
