To crave

by Kimberly Rhode

Ok I owe you for the music, for the coke.
Thanks for throwing me a pillow and making room for yourself.
To hear the stories I've tacked along your wall of golden skin.
I’m giving you a page, this is me naked.
But for every uncovered hole in the wall,
I know who will take it.
I know who will swim at the foot of a waterfall,
lips to your lens, wide open.
At the edge of a canyon, waving down lightning.
Arms overhead in your greatest Ozzy shirt, her body was designed to receive you.
I understand it’s art, the universe I‘m not invited to,
but I could not relax.
We’ve had so much sugar, it’s in layers in our sweat.
Keep still, two icicles,
licking our paws until we're warm again.
We could collapse.
We could forget about your flight.
About being firm, and having a grip.
These are the women who have given you so much to live for.
I owe you for keeping the lights of
through all of this.
