In case you ever ask

by Kimberly Rhode

It's getting late, now i'll tell you why i'm here.

I stumbled in with a purpose, useless to the world.
I came in because I can't take a joke, and I can't relax even when i'm alone.
Because I can sleep through a perfect day, and I don't know what excites me except for you right now.
Because I have a bed and a place he calls home, but I will still find a hotel room and lock myself in.
I'm here because I found a quick fix, and I like you with glasses.
I'm here because I wasn't invited, I watched the coffee crowd leave all at once.
I'm here to answer the question - yes I do open my mouth.
Because we have nothing in common, and I've been boring myself.
I was in the neighborhood, because this city is so crowded,
and I'm clumsy when I try to fight back.
The sun is rising, I guess you are a smoker after all.
The street isn't empty anymore, but I am motionless.
Hiding in a narrow room, you're blurry and I'm probably lying.
Fiction is bleeding around us, I write before the rain.
You won't see me sober.

Please get mad at me soon.
