How Malleable

by Lisa Marie Brodsky

I bring you in
as one pulls
in a tugboat
at sea
grasping and grasping
the rope until
it gets closer and closer.

And your climax
is a cry I want
stationed within me.
I break open my ribs
and store that
vulnerability inside

then sew myself up
so you know
I'll always have your
strongest
and weakest moments.
You will be surprised

at how familiar I become.
How safe I already am.

That first stanza is wonderful. This whole piece is beautiful and tender.
