if i can manage
by Charlie Morgan
if i can manage to stay aloft
hovering over you, lean and soft,
can we reach above and beyond
the expected climax of our fun?
maybe stay a little longer in this pose,
me balanced heatedly after the throes
of our getting and giving, energies spent
on love's meshing once, and now in descent.
leaning forward to kiss your reddened face
your caressing eyes showing no disgrace
in being a woman with needs fulfilled
not a mother, an aunt, or daughter still.
instead, my partner, my equal, my mate
Thoreau not heard; our march--a single gait.
we'll make the bed upon our completion
suffering no ills, no illusions,
that everything's fair in war and love
and our unity's blessed from above.
and tomorrow still, in our command,
our souls united, skipping hand in hand.
