Light the fire

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

light the fire
walk away
desire once started
destroys this way
tearing and pulling my soul
apart
the needing this wanting you
start
leave me alone leave me to be
I was numb before it was easy
you prod you pull the feeling
from me
then leave me with nothing
how cruel can you be?
do not start a fire you will
not feed
I am left with desire
full of need
aching
left to bleed

"do not start a fire you will not feed" That's a good line, a deep one. In a world of so many, there are fires that are sadly not tended, not feed; the sort of fires that poets notice. Well done.

Emotional drives are irrisistible. Logic takes a back seat. Nicely said.
