is god so cruel

by Carl Walker

see the leigions marching
they are coming for us
they want to conquer, claim us
each with their own standard
the brand of god they sell
and with it a panoply of schemes
of how we get to heaven
and
what it is when we get there
and
what is sin
and
what is not
and, and, and, almost freaking forever
etc, etc.

is god so cruel that
he will leave us
with no way to know
which is true
or if he is not

I think not
nay,
I know his love
caused him to
put his imprinteur
on nature
and taught his language
to our hearts
through our minds

that we might rest
in his friendship
and be lead by
his light
to navigate this dark place
into light
now
and to heaven
where
"now"
is
just
a little
part
of
eternity

Author's Note: if there be a god, (and I believe there be) he would be an idiot not to leave us with some way to distinguish between the false god my heart longs for and the real God who demands my submission as abject worship. The playing field is reason which brings us to faith. I believe, on faith, that Geo Washington was the first president of the US. I wasn't there, how do I know. I have evidence that brings me to accept,by faith, that it is so.

Really a great Lenten meditation for it is in Christ that God let us know!
